Andrew Symington is a freelance French horn player and teacher based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ensembles with which he regularly performs include the Pittsburgh Opera orchestra, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra (OH), and Symphoria (Syracuse, NY). Andrew’s students have auditioned successfully for Three Rivers Young People’s Orchestra (Pittsburgh) and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra (GA). He is a horn teacher at the Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra (PYCO) School of Music, Allegheny Music Academy, and Accent Music Academy.

Andrew is the author of the blog, “New Symphony Listeners Guide.” The blog aims to draw people into the experience of diverse sounds and emotions found in symphonies of lesser popular stature than those in the standard orchestral repertoire. His article about composer William Grant Still is published in the online arts publication, Raft Magazine. William Grant Still – Raft Magazine

Andrew lives with his wife, Larissa, and their daughter, Anita. Together they enjoy their church (Vintage Church PGH City), spending time outdoors, playing sports, hanging out with friends, and playing with their cats, Valkyrie and Fingolfin.
